As children, Annie Raitt and Brigit Forsyth played together – climbing trees and the like. Later they played and sang in Edinburgh cafes during the Festival, which was the start of their very long musical connection. Nowadays one lives in East Lothian and the other in Cheshire so the M1 motorway has become as familiar as their own backyards. On every journey to a rehearsal, recording session or concert Annie passed the Angel of the North and eventually wrote most of the title song of their latest album ‘Angel of the North‘ on the motorway. As the lyrics in the album are part of a life’s journey, so their shared music is part of their lifetime connection.
